FESTIVAL ARTIST FOR 2010
Visual art has been featured in the festival's Commemorative Poster each year since its inception. The poster is intended to communicate the vitality of our community and our festival. The poster image is derived from an original piece of work created by a specially selected artist from the Memphis arts community. Artists selected for this honor in the past include John Robinette, 2009; George Hunt, 2008
We are pleased to announce that we have selected as our Festival Artist for 2010
Jimpsie Ayres
Jimpsie is a native of the Midsouth. She studied fine arts at the Universities of Tennessee and Florida. While living in Florida and California, Jimpsie began her career as a stained glass artist, muralist and decorative painter. Her work in the Eighties in California landed her a listing in Who’s Who in California. Since her return to Memphis in 1991, Jimpsie’s focus has returned to the kernel of her creative life, painting. She has exhibited since then annually or biannually at venues around the Midsouth.
